In a filing with the state Public Utilities Commission, the utility said that it received an abundance of comments on its draft proposal and wants more time to review them.
The information provided by Hawaiian Electric in the Draft RFP and Technical Conference resulted in a significant quantity of questions and comments on the Draft RFP from potential bidders that merit thorough consideration. Hawaiian Electric anticipates that the additional time spent to address these comments will result in improvements to the Proposed Final RFP that may better achieve the objectives being sought and may avoid delays later in the process.
HECO expects a final RFP to be ready early in the second quarter of 2012 — it was due Wednesday.
