Former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann picked up an endorsement from the Hawaii Government Employees Association in his Democratic campaign for Congress, the union announced on Tuesday.
In a statement about the endorsement, HGEA’s Jon Gasper said Hannemann would be a “strong fighter” in the “strained and divisive” national political climate.
HGEA previously announced it is also supporting Rep. Colleen Hanabusa in her re-election campaign, and Rep. Mazie Hirono is her bid for U.S. Senate. Both congresswomen are Democrats.
