This the kind of stuff we love to see: Budgets gone digital.
The city again proved it’s tech-savviness with the release of Mayor Peter Carlisle’s proposed budget this week.
Following the mayor’s press conference, CDs containing the budget docs were handed out. The documents also can be accessed through the city’s Can-Do Honolulu website, a trove of raw city government data.
That’s in sharp contrast to when Gov. Neil Abercrombie presented his budget for the state. Hard copies of the 133-page document were handed out in spiral-bound pamphlets. Finding the budget online requires navigating the state’s Budget and Finance website.
