Is Algae Biofuel Fool’s Gold?

Hawaii has attracted some heavy investments for algae biofuel companies — Phycal and Cellana in particular — which are working on demonstration projects on Oahu and the Big Island. 

But President Barack Obama has come under attack from Newt Gingrich for federal research funding of the fuel that has yet to reach commercial scale.
