An accident late Wednesday afternoon at the Port Allen Power Generating Station on Kaua’i knocked out power to the entire island, according to the Kaua’i Island Utility Cooperative.

It is believed that as many as 24,000 customers were affected, according to Hawaii News Now.

The utility reports: “KIUC is currently experiencing an island-wide outage. We don’t have an estimate on how long at this time but will continue to give updates as they become available.”
