The U.S. economy added 227,000 jobs last month, making February the third straight month of better-than-expected jobs gains, the U.S. Department of Labor announced on Friday.

The unemployment rate stayed fixed at 8.3 percent, in part because the number of job seekers went up. Alan Krueger, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, said in a statement that the numbers show “the economy is continuing to heal”
