Lawmakers couldn’t bring themselves to formally opposed NOAA’s plan for added monk seal protections. The bill was deferred on Friday.

NOAA is currently reviewing whether to expand the critical habitat designation after environmental groups petitioned the federal agency. 

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources has already submitted testimony to NOAA stating its opposition.
