That’s according to Stuart Rothenberg, who emphasized in a Tuesday column for Roll Call that political savvy and fundraising prowess are decidedly not Lingle’s weaknesses.
“Lingle’s problem is that no Republican has won a Hawaii Senate race in more than 40 years, and the last Republican to win a statewide federal election was Ronald Reagan in 1984,” Rothenberg wrote.
Making the shift from a state race to a federal one will be a “very difficult task” for Lingle, Rothenberg said.
