The landfill site selection committee has decided to expand its list of seven parcels to re-include spots uphill from residential communities despite runoff concerns and land owned by the federal government and military despite potential acquisition difficulties.

The rationale is that subsequent steps, including weighted ranking criteria and ultimately decisions by Mayor Peter Carlisle and the City Council, will adequately consider concerns about those parcels.

The re-inclusions bring the number of parcels to be ranked up to around 17, but the change means today won’t be the panel’s last meeting. Another one will be held in approximately two weeks.
