Today is the first day of a week full of Budget Committee hearings to review departmental requests. First up at 9 a.m. today: the Mayor’s Office, followed by the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services and then the Liquor Commission.
The list also includes an item for an “administrative overview,” which could include some of the broader points from the mayor’s budget presentation. (That’s where we snapped the above photo.)
Budget Chair Ann Kobayashi told me it’s traditional for the mayor to be there him or herself on the first day to dialog with the Council.
If Peter Carlisle does come down a flight of steps for the hearing, he might not stay for the whole time. He’s got an 11 a.m. press conference in Kapolei to announce the opening of the Kapolei Parkway extension.
