KHON‘s Gina Mangieri has an update on the year-long process to site a new landfill. She reports a location could be unveiled at the selection commission’s next meeting Friday.

A committee is closing in on a report to the city ranking top sites. Locations of potential new landfills remain unidentified, having been analyzed for almost everything but their address.

Mayor Peter Carlisle’s nine member Advisory Committee on Landfill Site Selection started scouring options in January 2011 for what to do with Honolulu’s trash.
