Ocean Energy Projects Face New Federal Regulations

Hawaii’s renewable energy companies will have to jump through some federal hoops if they want to begin construction on such projects in off-shore waters. 

Pres. Barack Obama announced guidelines governing energy projects in Hawaii’s outer continental shelf in May 2009. Stakeholders met with federal officials on Thursday to try to sort out the new regulations.
