Senate Bill 2783 was approved Thursday (March 29) without amendments, meaning it awaits a House floor vote Friday.

If passed March 30, it goes directly to Neil Abercrombie for his signature — a major victory for the administration and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and a historic development in the long-simmering dispute over ceded-land revenue.

The bill allows the state to transfer $200 million in Kakaako makai land to OHA to settle a past-due ceded-land payment.

Expect a major bill-signing ceremony to come.
