Here’s some of what Sen. Daniel Akaka is up to on Tuesday, according to a spokesman:

• Meeting with a task force of the National Congress of American Indians that’s focused on violence against women. According to the Justice Department, American Indians experience higher per capita rates of violence than those of the general population. Akaka introduced legislation related to this issue late last year.

• Meeting with FACE Oahu representative Jun Yang, who is in Washington for the 2012 Transportation Equity Network Conference

• Meeting with Hawaii residents who are in town to attend the Veterans of Foregin Wars Legislative Conference (according to a Twitter post, Rep. Mazie Hirono met with them on Monday).

• Meeting with AIPAC conference participants Quinn Nii and Glenn Weinberg — no word yet on whether he is the same Glenn Weinberg who owns the so-called Winter White House where the Obamas stayed for Christmas several years in a row (read related Civil Beat stories by clicking here, here and here).

• Attending a Democratic Conference luncheon.

• Chairing a Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs nomination hearing — Akaka is leading the hearing at the request of Chairman Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., according to a spokesman for Akaka.
