A new poll by CBS and The New York Times finds a dramatic drop in support for the war in Afghanistan. The poll was conducted last week by telephone, and 986 adults were surveyed.

Sixty-nine percent of those surveyed said the U.S. should not be at war in Afghanistan. That figure is up from 53 percent four months ago. There was also a significant uptick — by more than 20 percentage points — of people who said that fighting is going “somewhat badly” or “very badly” in the region, according to The New York Times.
