The BOE’s Human Resources Committee made some minor adjustments today to three proposed policies and passed them to the full Board of Education for final approval next Tuesday.

The policies deal with teacher and principal performance evaluations; compensation and classifications; and recruitment, employment, retention and termination

Meanwhile, the Ledge has been pounding out bills that address the same topics.

The urgency in passing the policies, and related legislation, is in part due to Race to the Top. The state is at risk of losing what’s left of the $75 million grant if it doesn’t make some reforms soon.

The other timing issue is the current teacher contract expires in June. Negotiations resumed last week to settle the long-standing dispute over the next contract.
