Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s controversial appointees to the state water commission – Ted Yamamura and Jonathan Starr – were confirmed by the Senate on Tuesday. 

But for Yamamura, in particular, it wasn’t an easy confirmation with Sens. Hee, Ihara and Fukunaga, among others, arguing that he was not qualified.
