The Haleiwa Farmers Market has earned a temporary reprieve. The state Department of Transportation will let the market remain open through the end of the month to give the organization time to find a new North Shore venue, Pacific Business News reports.
The state on Monday had issued a cease-and-desist order to the farmers market. It has been operating on a 2.5-acre piece of state land at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and the J.P. Leong Highway bypass. But the DOT said the market has to move because vending isn’t allowed on state highways.
