The Honolulu Zoo’s accreditation has been renewed by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, according to a city press release. The accreditation never lapsed but had been in doubt.

Mayor Peter Carlisle held a press conference to announce the news today.

“The Honolulu Zoo is one of our city’s treasures,” he said in the release. “It’s very important to keep the animals healthy, happy and thriving. These latest upgrades and improvements will help our zoo remain a vibrant, world-class facility so our residents and visitors can continue to enjoy its animal collection.”
