Senate Bill 2785, which would create a regulatory structure for financing undersea cables capable of transmitting renewable energy between islands, passed a full vote in the House on Tuesday. It will now go to conference committee.

Opponents of the bill, including Rep. Cynthia Thielen and Rep. Gil Riviere, tried to insert an amendment into the bill that would exempt Lanai and Molokai where large-scale wind farms have been proposed. The amendment failed.
