Talk about a big “Oops.” The committee in charge of deciding where to put Honolulu’s next landfill has announced that they’ve found a “data error.” The list of potential landfill sites will have to be run again.

Last week, a quarry in Kailua was named as the new landfill site. Not surprisingly, politicians lined up to criticize the proposal and downplay the weight of the landfill committee’s “recommendations.”

The Mayor’s landfill site selection committee just sent out a media advisory announcing “a revised list” will be issued. They’re having a press conference to explain the problem this afternoon. Check Inside Honolulu for more details.
