The parties are coming back to the bargaining table. Nathan Eagle has more in the Hawaii Education Blog:

Teachers-union negotiators and Department of Education officials will be meeting Thursday to resume bargaining after the state invited them to return to the table. 

The contract talks pick up at a key time in the legislative session. HSTA, which held its annual convention over the weekend, opposes several bills that it views as circumventing the collective bargaining process.

Lawmakers will be considering those bills and others this week in one of the last steps necessary before sending them to the governor for his signature.
