The House Finance Committee has passed, with amendments, a bill to overhaul the state law governing charter schools and another piece of legislation related to performance evaluations and tenure for teachers.

The bills will go to the House floor for a vote before conference committee to work out any differences with the Senate’s versions.

While both bills have broad support and are poised to become law, the teachers union’s testimony against each cannot be undervalued. We’ll be watching to see where they go from here.
