UH’s Stan Sheriff Center Awaits Dalai Lama’s Arrival

The UH athletic arena is crawling with school kids. When an emcee calls out a school name — say, Sacred Hearts Academy — the kids scream.

The arena is only half full, but then, the Dalai Lama isn’t scheduled to talk until two hours later.

Local-born rock star Jack Johnson is expected to perform shortly, although word is he canceled a Los Angeles show this week due to laryngitis.
