The Honolulu City Council‘s Parks and Cultural Affairs Committee deferred action on a bill that would have banned commercial activity at two Windward Oahu beach parks, and the area’s lawmaker is not happy about it.

“I share the disappointment that many in our community feel about today’s outcome of Bill 11,” District 3 council member Ikaika Anderson said in a press release a few minutes ago. “We will continue to work with parks on this issue and I still remain confident that with the provisions of Bill 5 taking effect on July 1, there will be significant improvements over the current situation.”

He called that earlier bill a “step in the right direction” even though it’s not a complete ban.
