The Senate unanimously voted to approve Senate Bill 2776, which Public Safety Chair Will Espero called the “primary bill” for the state’s Justice Reinvestment Initiative.

“This is not an early release program, but an opportunity for Hawaii to move forward in its efforts to bring back the 1,700 inmates housed on the mainland,” Espero said on the floor in support of the measure.
