Though it is usually a slower time of year for travel, Hawaii visitor spending and arrivals surpassed record years for April, reaching $1.16 billion and more than 640,000 visitors.
Press release statement from Mike McCartney, president and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority:
The increases in airlift to the Hawaiian Islands with new routes, as well as the move to larger aircraft, were significant contributors to a robust April. And we anticipate the growth to continue into May due, in part, to our strategic focus on supporting experiential programs like Mele Mei and the Na Hoku Hanohano Music Festival.
