It’s House Bill 2175.

Many lawmakers said they needed the exemption to get knowledgable folks to serve on task forces and help them craft bills.

But others said the State Ethics Code is central to good governance and that, without it, exempted task force members would not serve the public interest.

Many Republicans and House dissident Democrats either opposed or voted with reservations on the measure, which previously passed the Senate. It now heads to the governor for his consideration.
