Barbara Marumoto, the longtime GOP state legislator, has elected not to seek office again in 2012.

Press release statement from Marumoto:

It has been an honor to serve in the House of Representatives and a privilege to serve the good people of the State of Hawaii. I will be at my desk until the general election and continue to work in the community thereafter.

Marumoto has represented the Kaimuki, Kahala, Waialae area in the Hawaii House of Representatives since 1978. Her seat is one of several that changed due to reapportionment this year.
