Mazie Hirono and Colleen Hanabusa were in the minority on a 234-182 vote.
Press release quote from Hanabusa:
This GOP bill would hinder some of the basic government security services many Americans rely on. It reduces overall funding for the Coast Guard who work tirelessly to patrol our oceans and keep our residents and visitors safe, and makes cuts to the Federal Air Marshals Service who protects our passengers in the sky.
It includes an abortion-related provision that does not belong in an appropriations bill, and increases the funding almost 12 times for a controversial immigration initiative while underfunding an important grant program we use in major cities across the U.S. — including Honolulu — to train local law enforcement and first responders on how to respond to and recover from situations like major natural and technological disasters.
