Negotiations in Congress have reportedly yielded a bipartisan deal for transportation spending that could free up money for projects nationwide.
The deal would keep highway and transit spending flat through the end of the 2014 fiscal year, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The authorization bill is a key step, but it’s not the only important measure for Hawaii observers to keep an eye on. Last week, the House Appropriations Committee sliced funding for Honolulu’s rail project, setting the stage for negotiations with Sen. Dan Inouye.
