The state’s Department of Public Safety says a recent letter to the Honolulu Prosecutor’s Office was poorly worded.
The head of a gang of motorcycle thieves who was sentenced to 10 years in prison is not being considered for the work-furlough program, the department’s spokesperson told the Star-Advertiser.
Prosecutor Kaneshiro held a press conference Wednesday to blast the department for considering Thang Nguyen for the program after just five months behind bars.
