Endangered seabirds will benefit from a settlement Monday between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Center for Biological Diversity.
The feds have to clean up toxic, lead-based paint on Midway Atoll that kills up to 10,000 Laysan albatross chicks annually and threatens Laysan ducks.
The settlement agreement came after the Center said it intended to sue the agency over its failure to clean up the hazardous waste.
