GLBT Democrats Back Caldwell for Mayor

Gay rights don’t come up much on the city level, but the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus of the Hawaii Democratic Party is still wading into the mayoral race.

The caucus announced late Thursday it’s backing Kirk Caldwell this year. In a press release, the group said Caldwell was an ally as a state legislator and has stayed in touch since he left the Hawaii House.

The 2012 Honolulu Pride Parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Magic Island and heads to Kapiolani Park for a celebration there.
