The U.S. House of Representatives voted 255-67 to hold Attorney Geberal Eric Holder in contempt.
According to this report from Politico, the resolution authorizes Republican leaders “to seek criminal charges against Holder.”
Excerpts:
Dozens of Democrats marched off the floor in protest during the vote, adding even more drama to a tumultuous moment in the House chamber.
Another civil contempt resolution, giving the green light for the Oversight and Government Reform Committee to sue the Justice Department to get the Fast and Furious documents, is still pending.
Mazie Hirono voted against the contempt measure while Colleen Hanabusa was among the 109 Democrats who did not vote on the matter.
Indeed, Hanabusa joined Nancy Pelosi, the Black Caucus and other Democrats who walked out on the vote.
