In the City and County of Honolulu races, Joey Manahan got the nod in Council District 7 and Ron Menor in Council District 9. Those seats are being vacated by the term-limited Romy Cachola and Nestor Garcia, respectively. (The union endorsed Nicole Velasco against Cachola in House District 30.)
Incumbents Ann Kobayashi and Ikaika Anderson and Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro were also endorsed. Previously, HGEA endorsed Kirk Caldwell for mayor.
Tom Berg‘s the only incumbent in Honolulu to not be endorsed. In District 1, HGEA left their slot “open,” meaning that the union does not endorse a candidate and encourages members to support and vote for any of the candidates in that race.

Also Wednesday, the Sierra Club made its endorsements for many statewide races and some other counties, but said its picks for CCH were not ready yet.
