DC808 reports:
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is out with fresh criticism of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda Lingle.
In an analysis it plans to release on Friday, the DSCC compares Lingle’s record to the budget plan introduced by GOP Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. The DSCC has gone after Lingle in the past for refusing to say where she stands on Ryan’s proposal. Friday’s DSCC analysis takes that criticism a step farther by saying Lingle and Ryan line up on “gutting” school investments, teacher cuts, reduced job training, higher prescription drug costs, risking food safety and the environment, and more.
“It’s no wonder that Lingle refuses to denounce the plan national Republican leaders are dead set on implementing,” the DSCC analysis concludes.
DSCC spokesman Nathan Click said in a statement: “Lingle’s record matches squarely with the extreme Republican plan that Republicans like Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell have endorsed. In the Senate, there’s no doubt that Lingle would stand with national Republicans in Washington as they try to balance the budget on the backs seniors and middle-class families.”
Last fall, the National Journal quoted Lingle as having said “I haven’t read Paul Ryan’s bill, but I can tell you as an individual, I don’t spend money I don’t have.”
DC808 has emailed the Lingle campaign to request a response — it’s still quite early in Hawaii.
