Hawaii’s proposed 100-mile undersea electric transmission cable, which would link Oahu’s power grid with the Neighbor Islands is being watched as a test of whether grids can take more power from renewable sources than is currently thought.

AOL Energy reports the proposed undersea cable — the Legislature this year approved a bill to create the regulatory framework for the cable — could end up boosting the case for offshore wind farms off the East Coast of the United States.
