There will be a special Finance and Infrastructure Committee meeting starting at 9:30 a.m. that will only focus on this issue. The full board will then consider acting on the committee’s recommendation when its regular meeting starts at 1:30 p.m.
The Board of Education deferred the decision on the controversial issue at its June 5 meeting. Bus contractors have aired their concerns over losing jobs if the state cuts bus routes as planned.
Many students will likely have to find another way to class when school resumes after summer break. School officials originally said 17,000 students would be impacted, but this number dropped to 7,500 this month. The board chair said he wants it closer to 4,000.
