Peter Carlisle didn’t just sign his re-election nomination paperwork yesterday. He picked up three union endorsements while he was at it.

I wrote yesterday that the Hawaii Carpenters Union, the Hawaii Masons Union and the Hawaii Sheet Metal Workers Union would back him, and they did.

The best quote from this morning’s press release, courtesy of Hawaii Regional Council of Carpenters Executive Secretary Treasurer Ron Taketa:

Mayor Carlisle has the vision to understand rail transit as not only vital to transportation, but also as the backbone for smart urban planning, improved environmental impacts, and better lifestyles with lower costs for island families. He doesn’t play politics with it, and he doesn’t back down.
