The Mazie Hirono campaign sent out a reminder that she and primary opponent Ed Case will meet for three separate forums this week to debate the issues in their U.S. Senate contest.

• On Tuesday (June 12), AARP Hawaii will host a debate at the Maui Beach Hotel from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Go to the organization’s website for more info.

• On Wednesday (June 13), Hawaii Public Radio will host a debate between 7-8 p.m. at its studio at 738 Kaheka Street. The debate can be heard on Oahu, Kauai and Molokai on FM 88.1, Maui on FM 89.7, Hilo on FM 91.1 and West Hawaii on FM 94.7. Olelo will replay the debate on a tape-delayed basis.

• On Thursday (June 14), Dan Boylan moderates a debate to be aired on KHET PBS Hawaii, Channel 10, from 8-9 p.m.

Another debate, before Oahu Democrats, is expected to be scheduled at a later date.

Case has criticized his opponent for not accepting more debate or candidate forums, and for not agreeing to appear on the commercial television networks.

Hirono has this press release quote:

These debates, of which two will be broadcast statewide on public radio and television and one held on a neighbor island, will give us the opportunity to continue engaging in a meaningful discussion of the challenges and issues our families face like creating more jobs and a self-reliant Hawaii.
