On Thursday (July 26), the U.S. House of Representatives passed the GOP’s Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act.
Colleen Hanabusa was in the minority of the 245-172 vote. Mazie Hirono was absent, no doubt busy prepping for the TV debate on Hawaii News Now (6:30 p.m.) in Honolulu with Ed Case.
Statement from Hanabusa on the vote:
This bill deprives the public of vital safeguards that protect interests that individuals cannot protect themselves, and surrenders the government’s obligation to serve the public. Appropriate regulations are the government’s way of preserving the health, safety, and well being of our communities, and I cannot see how the wholesale blocking of important regulations helps anyone in the long run.
