Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation CEO Dan Grabauskas is in Washington D.C. this week to meet with federal transportation officials and members of Congress to make sure Honolulu rail is on the right track.

His administration meetings are with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Federal Transit Administration staffers overseeing the grant application as well as an initial sit-down with other staffers who oversee grantees.

In the wake of the House’s decision to cut funding for Honolulu rail from $250 million to $100 million, he’ll meet with the Republican chair and ranking Democrat on the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee. And of course, he’ll meet all four members of Hawaii’s delegation.

His trip also included a tour of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.
