The campaign of Mazie Hirono released their own poll numbers Thursday (July 12) that show the Democrat ahead of Republican Linda Lingle in a general election matchup.

A recent poll by Benenson Strategy Group shows Mazie Hirono with an 11% lead over Republican Linda Lingle in the race for U.S. Senate. Hirono receives a majority of the vote, 51%, while Lingle receives 40%.  2% of those polled volunteer another candidate and 7% are undecided.

Hirono also leads among both genders with 54% of women going with her giving her a 19% advantage over Lingle. Hirono leads by 3% among men.

The poll was conducted among 800 likely voters statewide from June 19-21. The margin of error was 3.5 percentage points.

Hirono’s poll numbers were released a day after Lingle’s campaign released its own numbers showing her ahead of Hirono and tied with Case.
