Historic Ethics Fine Draws Comparisons

Just in case you missed it: Honolulu City Council Member Nestor Garcia received a historic $6,500 fine from the Ethics Commission.

We initially blogged about it when the news broke, but later followed up fuller story that was posted last night.

You can read it here. Of note is the comparison to former Council Member Rod Tam, whose ethical reputation is … tarnished.

Garcia, whose council term is up and is not running for a new office, apologized extensively for the violation. He also denied breaking the law on purpose.
