The University of Hawaii Board of Regents today approved the establishment of Honolulu Community College’s associate degree in Music and Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE).
The program had operated as a provisional program, opening with 27 students. More than 300 students have since taken MELE classes and the first degrees were awarded in spring 2011.
“This one-of-its-kind program provides an educational foundation and base of knowledge to nurture and grow careers in the music and entertainment industry both within and outside Hawai‘i,” shares Honolulu Community College Chancellor Erika Lacro.
