Hawaii’s two senators are both in the top 11 most pro-gay leaders in the U.S. Senate, according to liberal website ThinkProgress.

Dan Akaka tied for first on the list by virtue of putting his name on 13 of 16 pro-LGBT bills introduced since the start of 2011.

Akaka, a fourth-term Senator who will retire at the end of 2012, authored the Health Equity and Accountability Act of 2012 (a bill to improve tracking of health data for LGBT people and other minority groups).
