The preemptive firing of seven PR contractors by HART chief Dan Grabauskas yesterday didn’t dampen the Honolulu City Council’s desires for an audit.

Inside Honolulu reports:

The Honolulu City Council just approved an audit of public relations contracts and spending related to the controversial $5.2 billion rail project.

Council members made clear they still wanted the audit despite Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation Executive Director Dan Grabauskas’ decision Tuesday to cut nearly $3 million in contracts and spending.

While addressing the council, Grabauskas said he “wholeheartedly” agreed with the decision for an audit.
