U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat from New York, on Thursday asked her supporters to help Tulsi Gabbard raise money for her run to represent Hawaii in Congress.

Gillibrand’s “Off the Sidelines” campaign pumps up women candidates. Her blog describes Gabbard as a “progressive” Democrat. Also from that blog post:

When Kirsten met her last month, she knew she had to do whatever she could to help get Tulsi elected. As Kirsten wrote in an email to her list today:

When I first ran for office, most people wrote me off. Thankfully, not everyone. Some believed in me and I wouldn’t have made it without them.

I just contributed to Tulsi and I hope you’ll do the same. I’ve set a goal of raising $15,000 for her campaign by Tuesday so she can get her message out in the final four weeks.

Gabbard and rivals Mufi Hannemann, Esther Kiaaina and Bob Marx will participate in a debate on Hawaii News Now tonight at 6:30 p.m.
