AARP Hawaii’s 2012 State Voter Guide offers “a revealing look” at where candidates stand on the state budget, tax reform, health care and long-term care, according to a press release.

This too:

The views of older voters are expected to carry significant weight once again this election season. In 2010, nearly seven in 10 votes were cast by Hawaii residents age 45 and older, though they comprised just 41 percent of the state’s total population.

About three-quarters of the 186 candidates running for state House and Senate seats responded to AARP questions — including 90 percent of incumbents. The voter guide is available online at www.aarp.org/yourvote.

Sample question:

Will you oppose pension reform legislation that proposes to tax pensions or reduce promised benefits for existing workers and retirees?
